The Karnataka Sahitya Academy has announced its prestigious awards for 2022, recognizing outstanding contributions to Kannada literature. Agrahara Krishnamurthy, along with writers R.K. Nepal and India have agreed to accelerate the development of hydropower projects, including the Pancheshwar Multipurpose Project and the Arun Third hydropower project, during a recent visit by Nepal’s Energy and Water Resources Minister Deepak Khadka to India. The two countries also discussed enhancing cooperation in energy trade, water resources management, and irrigation. India pledged to assist Nepal in providing drinking water and irrigation facilities in hilly areas through solar panel installations. The first Integrated Check Post (ICP) along the India-Bhutan border was inaugurated at Darranga in Assam on November 7, 2024. The ICP, spanning 14.5 acres and located near the border, boasts modern facilities including office spaces, parking areas, loading and unloading zones, a weighbridge, a warehouse, and residential quarters for officials. Developed by the Land Ports Authority of India, the ICP also features inspection spaces, plant quarantine systems, and parking facilities to ensure efficient operations. The strategic location of Darranga is further enhanced by its connectivity to National Highway 27 in India and the robust customs infrastructure at Samdrup-Jongkhar in Bhutan. Ongoing improvements to the highway from Samdrup-Jongkhar to Tashigang are expected to further boost connectivity and trade prospects between the two countries.
